MyTouch

I decided after debating for weeks/months to replace my Google G1.  I went ahead and got another adroid phone because I love them!  I got the MyTouch and so far am LOVING it.  I am having to get use to not having a keyboard but the on screen one is really easy to use.  If you don't have an android phone, why not? They are awesome!

Just Keep Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'

Guess who rolled over for the first time today?  No, not Chris....This little guy!

I am guessing he's getting a tooth too.  Look at all that slobber! Isn't it cute!

(I don't have a picture or video of him rolling over because when he got onto his stomach he got MAD! He hates tummy time.

Skating Fast

Jordan had two birthday parties at the skating rink this weekend.  Here he is cruising around the rink.  Hes in the orange shirt!

(I used the flash on this picture by accident but I kind of like how it turned out.

I Will Not Look At You Daddy

Isaac plays this game with Chris.  He refuses to look at him.  He will do anything possible to not make eye contact.  All the while smiling!  This is funny until Mommy wants a picture taken with her baby boy and Daddy is the photographer.  Isaac would not look at the camera! It's still a cute picture!

A Lesson In Parenting

Tonight has been a hard one for me as a Mom. I hate having to get on to my son. I hate seeing him upset. I hate when he thinks we are mad at him. I hate to see him cry.

When Jordan got home from school today we went to Wal-Mart to get our weekly groceries. While at Wal-Mart he asked if he could ride his scooter when we got home. I said sure. It was such a nice day and I figured it would be a good way for him to get rid of some energy. He then asked if he could ride around the apartment complex we live in. I had some concerns about allowing this but Chris and I decided that he would be fine. He's almost 8 and is a very responsible kiddo. I told him that he could ride around the complex as long as he stayed on the side of the street and checked back in with us frequently.

I started putting away the groceries and cooking dinner. Jordan came in a few times to get drinks and just say Hi. Everything was going great. I finished up supper. I asked Chris where Jordan was and he said, he'll be back in just a few minutes. Chris and I started eating. Isaac was waking up from a nap and I wanted to finish my meal before I had to feed him.

I got done eating and Jordan still had not come back home. At this point it had been about 20 minutes since we had seen him. I still thought nothing of it, Jordan has always been one to entertain himself and he stays outside a long time.

I went out to find him so he could come in and eat. I walked around a few streets of the complex and could not find him. I looked up and down every road and nothing. I still thought, hmm, I wonder where he's at. I'm sure he will be home soon. I came back in to check on Isaac who by this time was screaming for my attention. I sat down to feed him and couldn't get Jordan off my mind. I had to find him. By this point I was starting to get concerned. So many things go through your mind. Did he fall off the scooter and get hurt? Did someone hit him with their car? Did someone take him? I hate that the worst possible things come to mind but I think that's just part of being a Mom.

I went out again and looked around and still didn't see him. My eyes being as bad as they are, I came in and asked Chris to see if he could find him. Chris being the patient laid back person that he is was not worried. This often bugs me. I don't understand why he doesn't get as worried about things and I do. But then I realize that God put him in my life to keep me calm and make sure that I don't freak out about every thing. But this was different. This was about our son. I thought that this would worry him too. Chris is way better as allowing Jordan space and allowing him to grow up. I baby him way to much sometimes. Chris and I make a good team in that aspect.

Anyway, back to the story. Isaac is crying, Jordan is missing, and Chris is going out to search for him. We are coming up on about 45 minutes since we've seen Jordan last. Chris is gone for what seems like forever. I began to feed Isaac and say a prayer that Jordan would be ok.

Then I hear them coming in the house. That was music to my ears! Jordan was crying because Chris had told him he was going to bed as soon as he finished eating. He also took away his computer and DS and grounded him to his room for tomorrow. Chris found him at the very front of our complex, right by the entrance gate, playing with a bunch of kids. He knew the instant he saw Chris that he was in trouble. While I was helping Jordan get in the shower he was telling me why he was over there. He said that the kids had his scooter and he was trying to get it back. I told him if that was true he should have come home to get us. He said "but your still mad at me". That broke my heart. I wasn't mad at him. I was just happy that he was ok.

Now that I've had several hours to think about all this, I realize that I'm just as much at fault as Jordan is. I never set perimeters of where he could ride. I never told him that he couldn't stop and play. I just assumed he would know that. I was putting way to much on him. If the kids had taken his scooter. I probably would have done the same thing. I would not have come home without it, because, I would have gotten in trouble for that too. Chris and I talked about it. If he's telling the truth about what happened then his punishment is harsh. He was so upset tonight and knows what he did wrong. He went to bed way early for a Friday night. I think that punishment is enough. I can't take his Saturday away from him too. He needs that interaction with Chris, Isaac, and I.

So in the morning, we will discuss all of this. Set some rules and move on. Like I said early, Jordan is a great kid. He makes good choices. He obeys. It's not him that I'm worried about. Its all the other people in the world that he may come in contact with. Were the fears and concerns the same for my parents? I remember going out and riding my bike around our neighborhood and never twice about it. I would stay gone from home for a long time. Did my parents feel the same way I did tonight? I sure hope not, if so, Mom and Dad, I'm sorry!

Sorry, there is no picture for my blog today. Some days, you just don't want a picture taken...today was one of those days.

I apologize if this blog doesn't make sense. Its hard to put into words how I was feeling at the time. I may rambled on...but I needed to talk about it. Thanks for reading.

Yucky Bubba

Today, I do not have a photo for you, but a video instead.  This is a video of Isaac and me having a conversation.  He finds what I have to say funny.  It takes a minute for him to get into it, but then we had a few good laughs.  Enjoy!

Almost There

I was helping Jordan do his homework today and looked down at Isaac who was voicing his opinion on what the answer to the homework was.  This is what I saw.

This is the closest he has come to rolling over.  He started out on his back.  He's halfway there! (And it looks like he is enjoying his fingers!)

Awesome Pancakes!

A few weeks back we saw a show on The Food Network that talked about pancake batter in a can.  I thought this idea was neat and decided to look for some of it while at Wal-Mart.  The idea that I could make pancakes in any shape I wanted sounded fun.  Not to mention there is no measuring, mixing, or bowls to clean.  I was told to look by the butter at the store.  I found it very easily. It was by the eggs at our store.

Since Chris is off work on Tuesdays, I decided to make us all some breakfast.  I warmed up my griddle to the recommended 400 degrees, shook the can up, and sprayed a large circle. It was SOO easy!  After making several large circles I got creative.

The shapes were easy to do.  This was probably the quickest and easiest way to make fun pancakes!

The only negative I have is that it was almost four dollars a can and it only made about 12 pancakes. (They were pretty large though).

This will be fun to do on special days like birthdays or holidays to make smiley faces or other shapes but I will stick with the cheaper stuff for most of my pancake making.

You should give it a try!

Spades

Had a great evening playing spades with David and Amanda.  Amanda asked "What are we playing to" ? I laughed and said "Wow, it has been a while since we played. Don't you remember, we play until I win".  We all got a good laugh out of it, but I was serious.  Well after playing for about 3 hours (We were watching Tv and talking at the same time) Amanda said it was time for them to head back to the hotel.  I know she only said that because she was winning!! Amanda, I know your tricks.

David and Amanda, thanks for coming for a visit.  We all had a great time and spending time with y'all was much needed.

Just for the record...I think Amanda must have cheated, she had the stinking ace of spades all but about 3 hands.  (Can you tell I'm bitter about losing?)

Great Friends

We are so happy to have our good friends David and Amanda in town for a few days! They got here this evening and are staying until Tuesday afternoon.  We have known David for about 15 years and its always nice to get together with him to catch up on everything happening in our lives!

Jordan Is Home and Isaac Laughs!

Two exciting things happened this evening.

After a week of being in Arkansas with his Nana for Spring break, Jordan got home!  I was so happy to have him home.  When Chris told me his flight had landed I cried.  When Chris sent me a picture message showing me he had Jordan, I cried.  I don't know why I was so emotional this time.  He has been away for a week before, but for some reason, this time got to me.  I am a happy Mommy to have my little man home!

Shortly after Chris and Jordan got home from the airport another exciting thing happened.  We were all sitting on our bed.  Chris was talking to Isaac and Jordan crawled over and said Hi to Isaac.  Isaac looked right at Jordan and laughed!  He has been making a few small noises when he smiles but tonight was the first out right laugh.  I think he was just as happy to see his Bubba as the rest of us were!  I don't have a picture of the actual laughing event because we were all to busy laughing with him.  But I do have a picture of my two boys together and happy!

A New Toy

Isaac loves sitting in his walker and watching TV. The rings also provide entertainment for a long time!

His little legs are almost long enough to touch the ground!
(Confession...I didn't take these pics today, but for the record, Isaac did sit in his walker today)

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Our day was pretty uneventful but Isaac did learn something new today.  I am not sure if I am excited about this or not.

All of our efforts to prevent thumb sucking and he discovered how much he likes it today.  This is the first time he has gotten his thumb to his mouth.  I guess I can deal with it, it keeps him happy!  The reason I am not happy with it is that it is a hard habit to break.  Jordan is almost 8 and we find his thumb in his mouth at night still!!

WARNING!

While we were cooking out on the grill tonight Chris came in and said the following, "I want to warn you about these burgers"

Usually this warning would mean one or more of the following:

1.  He burned the burgers beyond recognition (which he has never done)

2.  The burgers fell apart (because I had not made the patties tight enough)

3.  He dropped the burgers on the ground

Reluctantly I said, "What?" Inside my head I was trying to figure out a plan B for dinner.

He said "These burgers....may just be.....the best burgers you've ever had"

I laughed SO hard at him and said...wow, your cocky!

Ohh he wasn't done telling me how great they were either.  He took a bite and said "Mmmm that's a damn good burger" (Sorry for the language but I'm quoting here)

I LOVE MY PITMASTER!!

Just for the record, they were pretty dang good burgers!

Grilling Out

About a year ago we got a gas grill.  Chris will tell you that buying that was a huge mistake.  He has not been happy since we got it.  He wanted his good ol' charcoal back.  Yesterday, he got a brand new grill and today we tired it out.  Chris cooked us the BEST steaks tonight.  The grill is great and my husband is happy.  All is well in Cotterville!

I don't have a picture of the steaks because I was so excited to eat, that I forgot to take a picture.  You will just have to trust me when I say they were perfect.  We also had Homemade Potatoes Au Gratin and I will be posting that recipe on Carrie's Kitchen very soon!!

Leaving On A Jet Plane

My baby (well the oldest one) is going to Arkansas for Spring Break.  We decided the easiest way to get him there and back is to put him on a plane.  Dallas/Fort Worth is a 45 minute flight to Little Rock.  So we got the tickets and told Jordan he would be flying all by himself like a big boy.  He was excited! Mom, not so much.  The good thing is, I only had an hour to worry.  Thank goodness it was a short flight and there were no layovers anywhere or I would have been a wreck.  Below are a couple of pictures of Jordan before he left home and the last one is him safe and sound with his Nana in Little Rock.  He is a pro at this flying thing now.

(Now if I can just get through the next 7 days without him)

Pot Roast With Garlic Mashed Potatoes

I have posted this recipe on Carrie's Kitchen.  Click HERE or on the photo to go there!

Paperwork

Tomorrow, Jordan will be flying to his Nana's house.  He is flying ALONE for the first time.  This makes me a very nervous Mommy.  I know everything will be fine, but i can't help but worry!  To get ready for his trip I had to fill out some paperwork.  Nothing else really happened today but I needed to take a picture of something for my 365 challenge so...here it is...

My Dishwasher....

SUCKS!! This is what my dishes look like after going through the washer.  This spoon is suppose to be black.  When I called the apartment to have the dishwasher fixed I was told it was the soap I was using.  I said, but I have tired 3 different kinds.  The guy left and came back with soap and told me to use it...It did the same thing! Just trust me when I say something is wrong and fix my dang dishwasher already!

3 Months Old

It is hard to believe it has been three months already.  Here are some cute facts on our little man.

Isaac has started sleeping about 5 hours solid at night!

He eats about every 2 hours during the day.  He is a hungry boy!

A few weeks ago he started smiling and yesterday he laughed for the first time.  Chris was teaching him how to stick his tongue out (which he was doing) and he thought his Daddy was pretty funny.

(This picture turned out VERY dark...but it was by far the best facial expression so I tried to make it work)

He is weighing in at a whopping 13.2 pounds

Ands has grown to roughly 25 inches long!

What a fun baby you are Isaac.  You rarely cry and you are always kicking and waving your arms.  You get so excited when you see your Dad and Brother.  We all love you very much!! We love watching you learn new things and are very much looking forward to all the cool milestones ahead!

MMM BBQ...

We have a new favorite BBQ restaurant.  North Main BBQ in Euless, TX.  It is a great deal for the food you get.  They have an all you can eat buffet for $12.  The Buffet has chicken, portk, chopped and sliced brisket, world famous ribs, sausage, beans, potato salad, and slaw.  I am not one to get my money's worth at all you can eat places so they have a solution for that! For $5 I got a HUGE chopped brisket sandwich.  Everyone in the family loves it, we have decided to make this a once a month treat for the family.  Its a great place to go out and eat together as a family. It is not high class, everything about it is simple which I really like.  The use disposable plates, cups, and silverware.  The only drinks they serve are tea and water. (There is a coke machine) and you get all you can eat ice cream when your done with your food. (If you have saved any room).  If you are ever in the DFW area I HIGHLY recommend you trying North Main BBQ.  Give me a call and I will take you there myself.

Don't have time to eat there? They have all of their meats for $8 lb!

A Nice Day For A Stroll

Today in North Texas it was sunny and 60! It was beautiful!! Jordan walked in from school and said "Hey Mom, its so pretty outside, why don't you and Isaac come out with me".  How can I say no to that! So we got Isaac all warm and cozy in his stroller and went for a walk.  It was so nice being outside in the nice Spring-like weather!

A Wii bit of fun

After not playing Wii bowling in MONTHS Jordan and I faced off.  I didn't do to hot but Jordan did great.  In the end, I beat him, BARELY!
