Today I am thankful for the ability to blog!
I am so proud to live in a country where I can freely share my thoughts and opinions. Since I started my blog, I have not written near as much as I would like, but it is cool to think that anytime I have something on my mind I can come here to vent or share. It doesn't really matter to me who reads my posts (although I love knowing that people are reading)...it just helps me clear my head.
If you know me at all, I have had many sleepless nights in the past, especially when something was bothering me. I can say that this blog site has helped me clear my head and be able to get sleep. It may seems silly to be thankful for a blog but there are people in other countries who don't have the freedom to speak their mind. They can't go to certain websites or say what they feel for fear of punishment. I think we often forget what freedoms we have in here in America!
For those who read my blog thank you! It has been fun sharing my family and everything else with you. This is my 50th post since starting and I look forward to posting many more. Feel free to comment. I love getting to know my readers!
If you have never blogged before and would like to let me know and I would be glad to help you get started!

14 Days of Thanks: Day 9/10
I don't know what happened yesterday but I didn't get a blog post done. To be honest, I think I feel asleep! So, today, you get 2 days worth
Day 9: I am Thankful for Chris' job
Back on September 1st Chris took at Job at Swissport Aviation. I am so thankful that he not only has the job, which is good steady good paying work, but that he also loves his job. He enjoys going to work every day and is great at what he does. Many people can't say that. Many our unemployed or hate going to work everyday and thanks to God, we are not in that situation!! Keep up the great work Chris!
Day 10: I am thankful for the ability to purchase what is needed for our family
This goes hand in hand with the good steady job. I am thankful that we don't have to worry about where our food will come from, or how we will pay our bills every month. I see and hear about so many people who have this struggle every day and I realize how blessed we are to not have that worry. I'm not saying we are rich because we are not, but God has provided us with the money we need. The only reason I would like to have more money is so I could help those in need.
It is amazing to me to sit back and look at what we have. God has given us way more than we deserve and I hate that it takes a holiday for us to see what we are blessed with. My wish for you is that you sit down and think about what you have been given and be truly thankful! We should be thanking God daily for what we are given!

14 Days of Thanks: Day 8
Today I am thankful for internet
It isn't until you don't have it (like right now) that you realize how much you use it. Luckily I have internet on my phone to check bills and bank info if needed and to stay connected with friends and family. And I am also able to use my phone to write a blog post!
I am not thankful for AT&T whose service is aweful. We moved our reciever 2 feet and lost all cable and internet service. They have no clue what's wrong so we are waiting for a tech to come out tomorrow afternoon.
I am thankful that we are able to afford to have these little extras in life. Maybe I should use this outage to become less dependent on TV and cable.
I just ask why it had to happen on the best night of TV. I will have to watch Survivor and Greyls Anatomy online (when we get that back)

14 Days of Thanks: Day 7
Today I am thankful for Hot Chocolate and a warm cozy blanket
Here in North Texas we are finally feeling some fall temps. The morning lows have been in the mid 30's to low 40's. I had to put out a long sleave shirt for the firsts time since January.
I love when I can put on some Pj's make a cup of hot chocolate (it has to be nestle!) and snuggle with a warm blanket and a book. The next thing I am looking forward to is it getting os cold that I need a fire in my fireplace!
If its cold where you are, I encourage you to relax and do what I'm doing tonight. Grab that hot drink, blanket, and a book, and enjoy a nice relaxing evening!

14 Days of Thanks: Day 6
Today, I am thankful for God giving me the ability I have to carry and deliver my children.
I know many women who struggle for years to get pregnant, and another group of women who are told they will never have children of their own. I can not even imagine what that must feel like! To those women I say that God has a plan, stay strong, Doctors can be wrong!
God has blessed Chris and I with one very healthy baby born to us almost 8 years ago and another healthy baby boy on the way, due in about a month.
The feeling of carrying a child is something that can not be understood until it happens to you. You go through many unpleasant times but the moment you hear the heart beat, see a sonogram, or feel a kick you realize what you are doing it for.
My first pregnancy may have been hard on me but I would go through it all again to get Jordan. This pregnancy has been "normal" and for that I am thankful. I may complain often about something hurting or me not feeling well but again, its all worth it in the end!
Thank you God for giving me this amazing gift.

Introducing Rug Town
My son who is now seven years old, decided he needed his own city. I started the design process, declared himself mayor, and begin a major construction project. Without the help of the federal government, he has built many buildings so far including a bridge, police and fire station, and a large house. This city is built on a small island with multiple ways to leave when you need to get away. The ports are completely functional and boats are even present for pleasure and work needs. The roads are paved and the school and farm are almost complete now and the city should be up and running in no time.
Here is the progress he has made so far.
The train system is up and running and currently being used for carrying freight, and a few passengers. It is running like a well oiled machine.
Welcome to Rug Town as it has been named.

14 Days of Thanks: Day 5
The last 4 days have been rather serious and sappy but today that is not the case
Today I am thankful for spare first aide kits in the car.
Of course there is a story behind this!
For dinner tonight I decided to make meat loaf with mashed potatoes. All was going great. I had gotten the meat loaf in the oven and the potatoes were all pealed and ready to be cut and put in the pot to cook. I was on the very last one when the knife slipped! I hit my index finger on my left hand. I screamed and ran to the sink. It was bleeding pretty dang bad so I couldn't tell how bad it was. I grabbed a towel and just started applying pressure. I was crying and in pain and just really didn't know what to do next. Of course had it been someone else I would have know exactly what to do. Jordan was right there trying to make sure I was ok, I was telling him Yes I'm fine....while thinking, great, I'm going to have to go to the ER! Chris came to the rescue and put some flour on it to try to clot the blood. I've heard of doing that before but never tried it. It didn't completely stop the bleeding but it helped a lot. We got the bleeding stopped and went to clean it and put a bandage on. Chris goes to the medicine cabinet and there is NOTHING! No bandages, no gauze, nothing!
As we are sitting there trying to figure out which neighbor to bug I said "wait, isn't there a small first aide kit in the car?" Chris went to see and came back in with a box full of goodies. It had EVERYTHING in there. We have had the thing in our trunk for 5 years and never opened it. We got the wound cleaned enough to see it wouldn't need stitches, put some medicine on it, and wrapped it up tight. I guess I should also say I'm thankful for my fingernail which stopped the knife from cutting the tip of my finger off. After I calmed down for a few I was able to finish dinner and go about my night.
I know it silly but I am so thankful for that kit! Without it we would have had to make a very quick trip to a store but now we have time to go replenish out supply!
So what did I learn today? That when you use the last bandage put it on the list of things to get. The second lesson I learned is, if I want to be a real cook I need to learn how to curl my fingers up while cutting. I see them do it on TV and now I know why!!!

14 Days of Thanks: Day 4
Today I am thankful to have God in my life
I feel I should have posted this on Day 1. I would have no wonderful Husband or Son without God.
God is always there when I need to talk, or cry, or rejoice. God is forgiving and always understands when we make mistakes in our lives. God loves unconditionally. God hears our prayers and answers them when the time is right.
God loved each and every one of us enough to take on human form in his Son Jesus Christ. He came to earth to save us from our sins. He paid the price on the cross so that we could have the promise of life. We don't have to fear death because we know that something better is waiting for us.
Everything I have, or don't have, is part of a master plan that God has for me. I may get frustrated and feel like God isn't listening and then days, weeks, months, or maybe even years later I get the answer I was waiting for. It may not always be what I asked for but in the end its the right thing.
There is so much more to say but how do you really say it? If you want to know more about Jesus or my Salvation story just ask. I would love to share it with you!
Today, I just want to say Thank you Lord!
Years ago while living in Arkansas I was introduced to a great Christian artist by the name of Don Moen. He sings a song titled "Thank You Lord" and I think it says most everything I would like to say. I have posted a video. Please take the three minutes it last and watch it!

14 Days of Thanks: Day 3
I am thankful for my parents. Jenny and James.
It is so hard sometimes to put into words what you are really feeling but I am going to try.
My parents were I guess you could say, High School Sweethearts. A year after graduating high school they were married. 33 years, 3 kids, and 3.5 grandkids later they are still very much in Love. Looking at their marriage it gives all of us kids a great example to follow.
From day one, my parents have been teaching me life lessons and instilling the Godly morals that every person needs. They were not only our providers but our spiritual leaders. Through rules and discipline they raised all three of us kids to be hard working, responsible, and most importantly Godly people.
When all of us kids became involved in activities you could guarantee that Mom and Dad would be there not only supporting us but most times giving of their own time to help out. I think I can count on one hand the events they missed. From Cub Scouts, to Girl Scouts, To Pee Wee Football, and Band they were always active in our lives. My brothers and I were in band from middle school until our graduation. On Friday nights you could always find Mom cheering in the stands and Dad on the sidelines making sure everything was where it needed to be for our marching performance. Many of our friends saw them as "Mom and Dad". And Dad was even given the title of "Band Dad Dude buddy" by one of my oldest brother's classmates. Looking back I see now how blessed I was to always have that support. Having my own son now who is getting involved in things I see how hard it is to be at everything. They had 3 kids, three different schedules to coordinate but you never heard them complaining!
Every Sunday you would find us at church. It was something my parents felt strongly about and for that I am so grateful! Our family has had many trials but God has always brought us through. Without their strong beliefs who knows where us kids would be today.
The past few years have really made me see how much I love and respect my parents. When Chris and I moved our family to Texas it was VERY hard to adjust to not having Mom and Dad close. Phones calls didn't seem like enough. Now I cherish those phone calls. I have been accused of calling to often but I don't care! Sometimes just hearing your parents voice is all you need.
My Dad has lost both of his parents in the last couple of years and I am learning from that how precious our time together is. Whether is 2 weeks or 6 months whenever we get together it is priceless to me.
Mom and Dad I hope you know how much I love you and how grateful I am that God gave me to you. Thanks for everything you have taught and continue to teach me. Thanks for always being there and not judging me when I made mistakes. Thank you for loving me for me!
Below is a picture taken about two years ago at Christmas. We have added one more person to our family since then. My brother Jon is getting married to Gina in June and we can't wait to have her in the family! In addition the next family photo should have Isaac!!

14 Days of Thanks: Day 1 and 2
Many of my friends and family on Facebook decided to say one thing every day until Thanksgiving that they are thankful for. I loved this idea. Yesterday I decided it was a good time to start this. Yesterday was exactly two weeks until Thanksgiving, so I am going to give you 14 days of what I'm thankful for this year. Since I officially started this yesterday I am going to give you two days worth in this blog post.
Before I begin though, I am sure it is obvious to anyone who reads this that I have not posted anything in a long time. Since Oct. 1 to be exact. I have no real excuse for why, just laziness. After these 14 days are up, or maybe even while I'm doing these posts I am going to get a baby shower and Halloween posts out your way. Both events were special in so many ways and I want to share those days with all of you. Stay Tuned!!
Day 1:
I am thankful to be married to a great man! Chris and I did not get the traditional start to marriage. We were friends all through school (6th grade on) but didn't start "dating" until after graduation. I knew even before we started officially dating that he was the one for me. We spent most of our senior year getting to know each other better and allowing our friendship to grow. About a month after graduation we made our relationship official. Our dating life brought many challenges as we tried to transition from friends to more.
Two days after we starting dating my Mom and Dad were involved in an accident and my Dad was burned in many places. This event was very scary to me. The entire family (Including Chris) were present when it happened. Chris jumped in and took control. He drove myself and my brother to the hospital to meet ambulance and never left my side for the many days that Dad was in the hospital. If I had any doubt that Chris was the one, all was gone after that experience. He not only took care of me but he took care of all of us!
Later that year, we found out that we were expecting. This as you can imagine came as a shock. Instead of running the other way Chris jumped right in and took over and I think was more excited about our blessing than I was at first. Ten days after our son was born we were married. MANY people said we were just getting married because of the baby and that we would never make it. I will be the first to admit to you that it wasn't easy that first year. Not only were we having to adapt to a new marriage but we had a newborn as well. Needless to say we grew up a lot that year. There were many times Chris could have walked out, but he never once thought about doing that. We have now been married seven and a half years and our love for each other gets stronger every day. To all of you who said we would never make it, LOOK AT US NOW!
Chris works hard every day to provide for our family without complaint. I am so proud to be able to call him not only my best friend but my Husband. In 7 years I have learned a lot about what makes him tick but there is still so much to learn. I look forward to the years ahead! Thank you Chris for putting up with me all these years! Thank you for being our families Spiritual Leader and the Head of our Household. I see every day how much Jordan is like you, and I know that by following your example he will turn into a fine young man
Below is a picture of Chris and I on our wedding day(with my childhood minister and our new baby Jordan) and another one taken this past June 7 years later..
Day 2:
I am thankful for my son Jordan. God blessed Chris and I on May 8, 2002 with an amazing little boy. Not a day goes by that I don't thank God for him. It is hard to remember what my life was like before he came along. Jordan is a very smart, handsome, and polite little boy. I can not wrap my head around the fact that he is 7 years old and in 2nd grade. It seems like yesterday we were bringing him home from the hospital. It is so much fun to just sit and watch him think and figure things out on his own. No matter what kind of day I am having a kiss and hug and an "I love you Mom" makes everything ok. To tell you what kind of a boy he is I want to share my last Mother's Day with you.
Jordan always gets up before I do on the weekends. He will come out of his room and turn cartoons on real quiet until Chris and I wake up. Well on this Mother's Day I noticed he was being extra quiet. I thought he was still in bed. When I got up, there was a banner that he had made, on the fireplace mantle that said "Happy Mother's Day". In addition to that he had made me a card and found a heart shaped sucker he had gotten at school and wrapped it up in a homemade envelope to give to me. As if that wasn't enough. He had cleaned his room and the living room and said he was about to start on the bathroom but I woke up. I don't mean to brag but I don't know many 6 year olds that would think of that and do it all by himself! I was so shocked....and proud. Later that day he went to Walmart with Nana and when he got home he had flowers for me. In my favorite color, pink. Nana said he picked them out himself and paid with his own money. WOW! After he went to bed that night I thought "This was the best Mother's Day to date" I'm pretty sure I shed a few tears of joy that day. I look forward to many more days being Mom to such a great kid.
Below is a picture of Jordan the Day he was born and another one taken this past June when he was 7.
The two pictures taken in June were taken by our friend Liana. If you are in the DFW area she is a great photographer. I highly recommend Liana Randel Photography!
