25 Random Photos

A couple of days ago I did a blog post on my 25 Random Things and decided while doing that, that it would be fun to make a post with 25 Random Pictures.  So I went on to my computer and just selected some pictures.  They are in no order and I will tell you a little about each one.  Feel free to comment.  I LOVE GETTING FEEDBACK.  I lets me know someone besides Chris and myself reads this blog!

2001-2003-15.jpg

First up is Jordan.  I believe this was taken the day after he was born.  According to the time stamp, it would be 10 minutes short or 24 hours old.  I love looking at his pictures and seeing how he's changed.....Can't believe its been six and a half years!

2001-2003-05.jpg

This would be me, the night before Jordan was born.  I was exactly 36 weeks pregnant.  Little did we know how our lives would change a few short hours later! This is also one of the few photos I have of my pregnant self.

I honstly don't know what to say about this photo.  This is Jordan....before his first birthday.  Notice the spit up on his shirt...I am famous for taking pictues with stuff all over his clothes or snot all over his face!

Christmas_06-05.jpg

Jordan is in this group somehwere.  This is his pre-k chior doing a performance at FBC Colleyville. Due to hte poor quality (my old camera sucked) I think Jordan is the 4th person on the second row, behind the cute girl in the red dress.

GET OUT OF MY WAY!

For his fifth birthday Jordan got a 4-wheeler which he named "Shaggy".  At our old house, he had a large area t oride.  HE LOVED IT! I don't really know why he looks so mad in this pictures.  It is either, A. he just got in trouble or B. someone was in his way while he was trying to drive.

ok, so I told you these pictures were random.  This is Todd and Shelly's TV.  Sadly, it looks like we were warching Maury. This was back in the day when we were all living on campus at SWBTS.  At least once a week we would get together and hang out...the TV was almost always on but we never really watched it! I think I took this picture becaue I like the TV

Halloween_07-47.jpg

Our little Police Man. Halloween 07! This costume was so cool.  It came with jacket, hat, ticket book, batdge, and handcuffs.

SWBTS_06-07-04.jpg

This is the main building on the campus of SWBTS (Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary) We lived on campus for a year and I took 3 semesters of classes.  Its really is a beautiful campus!

march_snow_07-03.jpg

I love this picture! This was taken at SWBTS in MARCH 2007! We don't get to see much snow here in North Texas so this was a welcomed treat.  Even if winter was over! I also thought the "children at play" made this picture really cool.

SWBTS_100_Birthday-11.jpg

Yet another SWBTS picture.  We were fortunate enough to be students during the 100 year anniversary of hte school.  In celebration they had a huge BBQ and concert.  This is the main building all decked out for the concert.  It transitionted into many colors throughout the night.

Zoo_Pics_0308-01.jpg

Last year for Spring break, we took a day trip to the Fort Worth Zoo.  These Flamingos were so pretty.  When I think flamingo, I think pale pink.  These were a brilliant orange-pink.  They were so pretty!

Easter_08-03.jpg

This is my very handsome little man, Easter of 2008.  he is just a few months short of his sixth birthday.

I hope I'm not boring you! We are about halfway done!

I would like to introduce you to my Brother-in-law Chad and my very handsome nephew Noah.  I would love to be doing exactly what they are doing right about now!

Moving_Day_2008-09.jpg

While driving down I-30 towards Fort Worth, TX I decided to take some pictures of the sky-line.  It may not be as impressive as Dallas but I will take Fort Worth any day!

Moving_Day_2008-13.jpg

Moving into our current apartment, the movers had to bring in the couches via the patio door.  The movers were so funny! Jordan had a great time helping.  I mean, getting in the way!

Our new apartment came with a great swimming pool.  Perfect for doing Cannon Balls! It took Jordan a while to get up the nerve to jump, but then, he was unstopable!

Grandma_030708-13.jpg

This picture is very special to me.  It was taken in Dec. 2002.  It is one of the few pictures of have with my Grandma, whom we lost a year ago.  She loved her husband, kids, grand kids, and great grand kids more than anything!

Just a couple of months ago, DFW airport opened up the new and improved Founder's Plaza.  This is one of the statues. Founder's Plaza is located on the North side of DFW airport.  If you are ever in the area it a great place to visit for some FREE family fun!

All about my eye condition

I have had several people inquire on my vision disability.  It is something I am very open to talking about.  Let me just begin by saying I have never considered myself disabled.  There are things I am not able to do but I have never been able to do them, so I know no different.  One of those being driving.  I took my drivers tests and passed but never felt comfortable enough to do it. About a year after Arkansas gave me my license I was told that I should not be driving.  to drive you have to see 20?70 or better and my best vision corrected is 20/80.  I will admit that at times this is not easy and can be very frustrating for both myself and my family, but we make due.

So here is what I know about my condition. It is hereditary and I  share it with my 2 older brothers and my son. It is different in every person and ranges in severity.  One member of my family is legally blind, one has has very little issue and can drive and function normally, and I'm smack in the middle.  I an not legally blind, but I can not drive.

At a very early age I was seen at the Arkansas School for the Blind and diagnosed with having Coloboma.  It has taken me many years to peace together exactly what it is.  The way I understand is that it is a condition that effects the center of the face.  It is the same gene that cause cleft pallet.   It is where a part of the eye does not completely form. It is literally a whole in my eye.  The severity depends on the size and placement of this whole.

Since technology and medicine and improved so much in recent we are learning about this condition.  For 23 years I was told I had this.  I was told that it was on my Optic nerve and that my center line of vision was greatly impaired.  I tend to look to the side to read.  My distance vision is greatly affected and I wear corrective lenses to help.   It wasn't until I moved ot Texas that I found out I actually have a different form of this defect.   At an annual eye exam with a new doctor, pictures were taken of the inside of my eye.  This was the first time this had every been done and what we learned shed a great deal of light on what was going on.  This doctor determined that I didn't not have a Coloboma.  What I had was called Macular Hypoplasia.  It is basically the same thing but it affects my Macula instead of my Optic Nerve. This didn't really change anything as far as what I could see or what could done, it just gave me better understanding.

In addition to the under developed Macula, I have a condition called Nystagmus. This is totally seperate and just as rare.  By looking at me you can not tell I have macular hyplasia but you can tell I have the Nystagmus.   It is a phsical back an forth movement of my eye.  I don't see it becaue my brains adjusts but when looking at me, it is obvious.   There are times when I'm really tired or sick that I can see objects moving back and forth but that is rare.  I honestly don't know much more about this condition.

There is no treatment for either condition.  I manage it with glasses and patience.  I am happy to say that things have improved greatly and my Son should have an easier time dealing with this than  I did.  He has a Coloboma  in both eyes and we won't know the extent of the damage until he gets older and can tell us what he sees.  One doctor has classified him legally blind, the other said hes not.  We do know that he is color blind.  He sees primary colors but can't see shades.  I am encouraged by the amount of help he getting from his school and I know that he will excels regardless of his vision.

Thank you all for you care and support.  If you have any more questions you can ask.  If I don't have an answer,  I will find it.  I love learning about all of this.  Both of these conditions are pretty rare but if you want to find more information just google it.  Wiki has a brief description but I'm sure there are other sites out there.

Have a grea dat! I'm getting ready to write a few more blogs.  One on "25 random pictures" and one on Jordan's Pinewood Derby so look for those soon!
